oSTEM Leadership Program

Would you like a chance to develop your leadership skills? Would you like to do so with a group of queer students from other oSTEM chapters? This is your chance! oSTEM's second leadership program, designed specifically for queer students in STEM.

The applications for 2019 Session are now open!

What is it?

oSTEM's Leadership Development Program is a two-part program aimed at organizational leadership development, networking, and collaboration.

First will be a collection of topics on organizational development. Upon completion of the organizational topics you will be eligible for an all-expense paid trip to collaborate in person.
The time commitment for the online portion will be around 10 hours. You will be free to complete the online content as you are able. The deadline to complete the online content will be November 2019.

Part 1: Organizational Development Course  | online

Part 2: Weekend Retreat | in-person

The weekend retreat will be an all-expense paid retreat to practice skills that can be taken back to support your local chapter. This portion of the leadership development is only available to those who complete the online organizational development course. Of the students who complete the online course, we only have a limited number of slots to attend the weekend retreat!

The retreat will be held March 2020 in Anaheim, CA

Who is it for?

The program is developed for students who want to develop a comprehensive understanding of leadership. Consideration will be given to students in the following categories.
  • Students who lack access to leadership development resources
  • Students who wish to pursue leadership career paths
  • Students who plan to hold multiple leadership positions at the chapter level
  • Students who are underrepresented in leadership roles
  • At least 1 student from each active oSTEM chapter*

The online portion of the program will be open to a maximum of 6 students per chapter. Due to limited space, only 1-2 students from each chapter will be able to move onto the in-person training. It is strongly suggested that each chapter has alternates for the in-person portion. We recommend 3-4 students complete the online portion per chapter.

How do I join?

The leadership development is currently only accepting nominations from students in an oSTEM chapter.

You MUST have an oSTEM account. If you do not have one, click the Join oSTEM button in the top right corner.
