Vice President of Operations

Position Summary:

The Vice President of Operations serves as a member of the oSTEM, Inc. working Executive Committee and acts as a representative in all related events and functions.  The VP of Operations serves as a champion of the oSTEM volunteers, offering strategic vision to help advance the goals and objectives of the organization and its volunteers. Core responsibilities include management of Human Resources (HR) activities, being an advocate for our volunteers, and supporting/developing internal processes to advance oSTEM’s environment.
 
The Operations team is focused on ensuring the oSTEM volunteer community has the skills and training needed to accomplish oSTEM’s mission.  The team is encouraged to participate in development activities including donor cultivation, program assessment, grant writing, and other forms of fundraising and revenue diversification. The VP of Operations works to support and manage this team.

Expectations:

  • Estimated weekly commitment: 10-15 hrs/week

  • Regularly scheduled meetings:

    • Weekly Executive Committee meeting (1.5 hrs)

    • Biweekly one-on-one with ED/CEO (1 hr)

  • Recruiting and screening new volunteers across the organization

  • Partnering with the Executive Committee on volunteer governance, ensuring we have the most critical skills available and any gaps filled

  • Coordinating professional development training sessions for all volunteers

  • Direct collaboration with other VPs to advance top priority initiatives and tasks

  • Development and management of a volunteer team responsible for HR and Development

  • Strategic planning and goal setting developed in conjunction with the Executive Committee

  • Represent oSTEM with professional behavior consistent with our mission and core values

  • Adhere to oSTEM’s Code of Conduct and organizational bylaws applicable to all volunteers within the organization

  • Share in an equal legal and fiduciary responsibility for oSTEM with the other Executive Committee members
